Spring/Summer 2009

February 2008

The first impression of spring/summer 2009 is that of a fresh and resolute season, with an optimistic approach to a contemporary and energetic interaction of opposites:

  • Sustainable and ephemeral
  • Conscientious and jaunty
  • Natural and artificial

Colour is assertive, making a definite stand for the season’s dynamism and vigour and on the other hand it is also insouciant, conveying a feeling of confident ease.

Naturally saturated

A statement of chromatic energy and magnetism, the colours are intense, deep, expressive, lavish and hyper-real.

Nature is rendered in high definition by bringing to their maximum pigmentation ocean and sky blues, herbal greens, blossom pinks and violets.

Vibrantly synthetic

Whitened fluorescence is accentuated to create an artificial brightness of effervescent colours that are joyous and energetic.

A cheerful chemistry of synthesised pastels and excessively bright hues combines shades of yellow, orange, green and pink in almost pulsating contrasts.

Clearly neutral

Graded, cool monochrome colours are powered by graphic contrasts. The colours are definite, rigorous, significant, precise and poised.

Aiming at classic completeness, modernist combinations of light and shadow based on tones of white, ecru and greys with serious blues, are emphasised by contrasting accents.

Smoothly tinted

Evanescence and lightness in muted yet fresh, iridescent shades are pleasantly light, poetic, placid and cultured.

A sweet and sour undertone in a tender, pink-infused harmony of pastels and neutrals like lavender, light blues, pink, greys and off-whites is balanced by acid yellow-green accents.

"Mere colour, unspoiled by meaning, and unallied with definite form, can speak to the soul in a thousand different ways".
