It is a common misconception that synthetic fabrics dry at a faster rate than their natural counterparts. In fact the rate of evaporation from fabrics depends to a large degree on the prevailing climate conditions. Drying time is also determined by the amount of water in the fabric that must be evaporated. Merino is naturally water repellent and consequently will often take less time to dry than many other fabrics after exposure to a light shower because it will have absorbed less water.
